Your first step
Where your foot lands, how hard you push, and which direction the force actually goes. Most athletes push half of it sideways.
Speed Clinic · Saturday, September 19 · Los Angeles
The Train4Speed Speed Clinic is one morning on acceleration and first-step explosion. Not conditioning, not a tryout. The part of speed that shows up on film and almost nobody trains on purpose.
$15 at check-in · 15 athletes only
The whole morning, one idea
Watch any game film. The gap between two players almost never opens up at top speed. It opens in the first three steps, and then it never closes. That is trainable, and it is what we work on.
Where your foot lands, how hard you push, and which direction the force actually goes. Most athletes push half of it sideways.
Standing up too early is the single most common reason a fast kid looks average off the line. It is a fixable habit.
Speed is not how fast the legs move. It is how hard you hit the ground and how quickly you get off it.
Every athlete gets timed at the start and again at the end, so they leave with a number instead of a feeling.
How the morning runs
Fifteen athletes is the cap for a reason. Past that, first-step work turns into a line of kids waiting for a turn.
Everyone runs a 10-yard split. That is the number we are trying to move.
Individual corrections. This is the part that carries into every sport.
Starts, resisted starts, and change of direction out of a dead stop.
Same split, same clock. Athletes leave knowing what moved and what to work on.
Who shows up
Fifteen athletes, ages ten to eighteen, from whatever sport they play. Nobody is grouped by team or position, because getting out of a stance is the same problem for all of them.
Some have been timed before. Most have not. The first split is just a starting number, and nobody announces it.
Who is running it
NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist. Running back and speed trainer working with athletes across Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire.
He times everything. That is the whole method: if it did not move on the clock, it did not work, and you change the plan.
Reserve a spot
Reserving holds the spot. Bring $15 on the day, cash or card. If your athlete cannot make it, reply to the confirmation email so the spot opens for somebody else.
The clinic on Saturday, September 19 is done. The next one is not scheduled yet.
In the meantime the free evaluation is always open. Same work, one athlete instead of fifteen, and you still leave with a number.

No. First-step explosion is the same skill in every sport that involves beating somebody to a spot. We have football, track, soccer and basketball athletes in the same group.
That is most of the room. The first split is just a starting number, and nobody announces it. It exists so there is something to compare against.
Ten to eighteen. Younger athletes are welcome if they can follow instruction in a group.
Nothing automatic. Morgan will tell you what he saw. If it makes sense to keep working together he will say so, and if it does not, he will say that too.
Yes, and it helps. You will hear the same corrections your athlete does, which makes practice at home worth something.
